For my last multi-day hikes, I put together a packing list. Maybe it is of use for some of you.
This is a quick review of the Therm-A-Rest Trail Pro (2016 model), a self-inflating backpacking mattress.
The Apus 2 from Portal Outdoor is a super lightweight and compact tent that is also priced very competitively. It is advertised as the “ultimate solution for trekking, bicycle touring or other adventures”. Sounds too good to be true? Let’s find out!
For multi-day hut to hut hiking, backpacks with a capacity between 30 and 40 liters are generally recommended. Jack Wolfskin offers a suitable candidate with the ACS Hike 32. It is a dual-chamber hiking pack with a well ventilated suspension system.
The Logitech G-series G413 keyboard is a full size, back-illuminated mechanical gaming keyboard. It is available in a silver or black finish (aka Carbon), where the former has white and the latter red backlight. The MSRP of the G413 is 100€ (street price from ~85€), which may sound quite steep when compared to traditional rubber-dome keyboards. In my opinion the price tag is just about right for a mechanical keyboard.
The Samyang 12 mm f/2.0 NCS CS is an ultra-wide angle lens specifically designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It is fully manual, i.e. there are no electronic contacts between the lens and the camera body. The 12mm focal length yields an 18mm equivalent field-of-view, which is great for landscapes or architectural photography. With a max. aperture of f/2, this lens is also an attractive option for astro photography.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm 1:1.8 is a short telephoto lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. The combination of an equivalent focal length of 90mm and a large max. aperture of f/1.8 makes this lens perfect for portraits.
Not only is this lens a stellar performer, it is also super lightweight, compact and cheap.
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm 1:2.8 Macro is one of 4 available macro lenses for the Micro Four Thirds system. With an equivalent focal length of 120mm, the Olympus 60mm is the longest of all 4 lenses. Even though this is a macro lens, it can of course also be used for general photography.
Due to its popular focal length and moderate price tag, the Fujinon 35mm f/2.0 R WR is probably one of the first lenses you should get for your Fuji X system. At a mere of 160g and 4.6cm length, you can take it anywhere without adding much bulk.
If you are looking for an affordable super telephoto lens for the Micro Four Thirds system, then the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75‑300mm 1:4.8‑6.7 II might be a good option.
