I decided to upgrade my 6-year-old GeForce GTX460 graphics card. While it has served me well and is still powerful enough to play older games in 1080p in high details, it fails to do so with more recent titles (e.g. GTA V).
The GTX1070 graphics processing unit is the latest in Nvidias lineup. Apart from the GTX1080 and the Titan X, it’s the most powerful GPU to date. It consists of 7.2 (!) billion transistors, has 1920 ALU’s (Cuda Cores) and a total processing power of 6.5 teraflops. Thanks to the 16nm FinFET technology, it is also very efficient with a TDP of just 150 Watt.
I finally decided to upgrade my old gaming PC. About time, it has been almost 6 years since I bought the core components (mainboard, CPU, RAM and GPU). In this article, I will discuss the decision making process based on my requirements and present the result.
